This is Camila just getting warmed up after opening her first of many presents. Camila liked the toys and her mother liked the clothing. I can't believe how much my little baby has grown in her first year!
This is our princess Camila on the day of her first birthday!
This is one of the oldest Catholic churches in the city of Cali Colombia. It's not exactly located in the nicest part of town so I had to rush to get out of the car, take the picture, and hurry and get back in before the people robbed me or worse.
Yes, those are real M-16's assault rifle's they are carrying. While we were in Colombia, the Presidential elections were being held so security was very tight and policemen with guns were a common sight, 6 foot 6" gringos were not so easily found however. This was the only one I saw on the whole trip.
This beach known as playa blanca is known for it's white sands and beautiful women. It's located on a nature preserve and was very relaxing to rest on the sand and listen to the incoming waves softly roll on to the beach
This is a view inside "La Popa" This church was erected on the site of Cartagena's tallest hilltop where the first Spainards to the area found a group of indians worshiping a golden calf. Legend has it they melted down the golden calf and used it to decorate the inside of the cathedral. Notice the fine gold ornamentation. The indians would later take revenge on the preist by killing him with a spear through his body.
This is the main fortress that guarded the city of Cartagena from pirates and other evil-forces. This castle was the main staging area for all of the stolen incan and mayan gold and treasures before they made thier journey back to Spain. This fortress is full of hidden trap doors and was impregnable to intruders trying to take over the city. Cartagena was also the first city in the "New World" where the inquisition began and the indians and non-Christians were tortured and put to death by order of the Pope in the Vatican unless they converted to Christianity.
This was how our precious little one was dressed on the day of her blessing. Melissa made sure to have a dressed that was long and flowed, hopefully we can frame that dress with the words of her blessing. It was great to have the support of the men of the family as we held her in our arms and gave the blessing
This was our wonderful opportunity to have our little girl Camila sealed to us and be married for time and all eternity. There was a special spirit in the room when they brought in Camila. It was an experience I will never forget. June 9th 2007
